The 7 Year Tribulation Period

The Tribulation Period will last for 7 years. Halfway into the Tribulation, the Antichrist will seat himself up in the Temple of God that will have to be rebuilt by the Jewish people. He will then state that he is God. This event is called the abomination of desolation by the prophet Daniel. Our Lord Jesus Himself specifically refers to this event in the New Testament.
Below are some key verses from Scriptures on the 7-year Tribulation.

(1). This first verse from Daniel shows that the 7-year Tribulation is initially established by the Antichrist setting up a peace treaty with Israel, and then in the middle of the peace treaty he will turn his back on the Jews and set up the abomination of desolation in their beloved Temple.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (KJV) . . . One week has been determined to be 7 years. How do we know that? Because in the middle of the week, the Antichrist sets up the abomination of desolation. And we already know that once that horrid ABOMINATION is set up, there will be 42 months or 3 ½ years to go before the end of the Tribulation Period. This tells us that one week is equal to 7 years. This is how we know that the Tribulation is a 7 year time period.

I believe that this prophecy is yet to be fulfilled by the Antichrist in the Tribulation period. This speaks of the first beast in the Book of Revelation (Rev.13:1), the Antichrist (Dan.7:7-8, 19-20, 23-24; 11 39; 2 Thes.2:3-4; Rev.12:3; 13:1, 5-6; 17:3, 16).
The Antichrist will make a peace treaty with Israel for a period of one week (7 years), but half way through the covenant (3 ½ years), he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings in the Temple. There is NO Jewish Temple today, so there has to be one before this can take place. It is possible that Antichrist will allow the Jews to rebuild the Temple as part of the Treaty with them. I do not know. But I DO KNOW that the Temple has to be rebuilt before the Abomination of Desolation can take place!

As the highpoint to all the Antichrist’s appalling deeds, he will set up a blasphemous and disrespectful idol that causes mocking irreverence (abomination of desolation).
Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. (KJV)
The importance of this verse cannot be overemphasized because the Lord Jesus referred to it. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) (KJV)
This is the signal to the remnant of Israel that The Great Tribulation (the last half) has begun. For 1,290 days the idol of the Beast remains in the Jewish Temple. In reality, this is 30 days beyond the 3 ½ years. The last half of the Great Tribulation is 1,260 days, and for some reason the image of Antichrist will be permitted to remain 30 days after Antichrist himself has been cast into the lake of fire (Rev.19:20; 20:10). YES! There absolutely IS a literal Hell! BEWARE!!!

That blasphemous image will be placed in the Temple of God and will remain there until the one who put it there meets his end which God has prepared for him (Rev.19:20; 20:10).
For the overspreading of abominations . . . because of the abominations committed by the unholy people against the Holy One, poured upon the desolate . . . not upon the desolate place, but upon the CAUSER of desolation (Dan.9:27), meaning the Antichrist, the monster who makes the Temple desolate.

Jesus says that once this event happens, His people are to flee into the mountains. Jesus says that the last three and half years of the Tribulation set off by this abomination of desolation will be the worst part of the Tribulation and the worst time of trouble that the world has ever seen. He says that had these days not been shortened by God the Father, that no flesh would have been saved.
Matthew 24:15-22 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. (KJV)

(2). The next Scripture from Daniel definitely tells us that once the animal sacrifice is taken away from the Jews and the abomination of desolation is set up, that there will be 1290 days until the end! 1290 days is three and half years plus 13 days.
Daniel 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. (KJV) . . . Blessed are those who remain faithful until the end of the 1,335 days! Here is yet another series of days given to us with no other explanation, EXCEPT blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the 1,335 days. I don’t think anyone has the interpretation of this . . . for it is sealed until the time of the end. I think sometimes we try to be know-it-alls, and THINK that we know more than is actually given to us. Our awesome God will always give us enough information, so that we can live in this evil world. To strive for more knowledge than is given to us can be confusing.

Notice in the first part of the above verse that it says that the daily sacrifice is taken away. This refers to the fact that when the Jewish people rebuild their Temple, they will once more re-instate the practice of animal sacrifice as they did back in the Old Testament.
The Antichrist will allow this to go on for a while, but when he sets himself up to sit in the Temple of God . . . to be ‘god’ in the abomination of desolation, he removes this privilege from the Jewish people!
This verse is thus giving us two keys to let us know WHEN we are at midway in the Tribulation . . . #1. the taking away of animal sacrifices, and #2. the Antichrist seating himself in the Jews' rebuilt Temple proclaiming himself to be God.

(3). This Scripture also reveals that the persecution of the Jewish people and saints of God will only last three and half years.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. (KJV) . . . Again, a time = 1 year. Times = 2 years. The dividing of time = half a year. The total comes to three and half years.

(4). Here is yet another verse showing that the Antichrist will have only a period of 42 months to continue his carnage. This verse uses the time of 42 months, which again is three and half years.
Rev. 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. (KJV) . . . The beast shall speak horrible blasphemies against God. And he was given authority to do what he wanted for forty-two months . . . BUT . . . God is ALWAYS in control, then and now! Antichrist will have ONLY 42 months of power and authority. At the EXACT end of that time, God shall flatten him! Count on it. It’s as good as done! Antichrist will be a big-mouth braggart who will blaspheme God and God’s children. Daniel tells us the same thing (Dan.7:8, 25). Unlike Christ, who spoke only in praise of God, and came in peace; Antichrist will speak only blasphemies of God and come bringing war. No comparison whatsoever!

(5). Here is the verse from Jesus telling everyone to run for the hills once the abomination of desolation occurs with the Antichrist. This is where Jesus also tells us that this Tribulation will be the worst tribulation that the world has ever seen or will ever see again.

(6). And here is a Scripture showing the slaughter that will result from the Tribulation. This next verse says that two thirds of the Jewish people will be killed by the Antichrist. This shall be worse than the Nazi Holocaust . . . IF that is possible, and according to Our omnipotent GOD, in His Book, it is!
Zec. 13:8-9 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. (KJV) . . . This is a prediction of the HORRORS of the Great Tribulation period. Multitudes shall perish. "In all the land" means the whole world. Two parts or two thirds therein shall be cut off and die. This shall possibly be the last struggle of the beast of Rome (Rev.13:12-15), will die to the profession of religion, and be cut off from the people of God, and have no more a name with them (Rev.17).
Some say that two thirds of the Jewish people would be about 9.3 million Jews being killed by this one oppressor. This will be above the 6 million Jews that were killed in the Nazi holocaust. This Passage does not tell us how many of the Christians will be killed by the Antichrist. It is my understanding that the Christians will be the target for this monster, in the first part of the Tribulation Period, when he is busy with the Peace treaty with Israel . . . and then mid-way, Antichrist will go hog-wild after Israel.
