Prophecy In The Bible

Prophecy in the Bible is SO very important to study when you are trying to decide if the Bible is dependable and true or not. I will bring several important prophecies in the Bible which have been or soon will be fulfilled. There is a prophecy whose end was for the most part fulfilled just after the end of World War Two. For hundreds of years, most people thought this prophecy about the Jews would never really be fulfilled.

The Jews and Palestine

Leviticus 26:31-33 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. 32  And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. 33  And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. (KJV)

This prophecy predicted:
#1. The land, cities and sanctuaries of the Jews would become waste and destroyed. Fulfilled for almost 2000 years.
#2. The Jewish people would be scattered among the nations. Fulfilled about 70 A.D. Even though the Jews had been exiled before, this was the first time they were scattered across many nations.
#3. A sword (death) would claim many Jews. Fulfilled by many, especially by Hitler.

Jericho

Joshua 6:26 And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it. (KJV)
1 Kings 16:34  In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun. (KJV)

Joshua 6:26 was written about 1380 B.C.  This prophecy exactly predicted:
#1. The city of Jericho would be rebuilt. Fulfilled when King Ahab had Hiel rebuild Jericho.
#2. When the builder lays the new foundation of Jericho, his oldest son would die. Fulfilled
when Hiel's oldest son Abiram died.
#3. When the builder sets up the city's gates his youngest son would die. Fulfilled when Hiel's
youngest son Segub died.
This prophecy of Joshua alone, and its absolute fulfillment, is enough for me to have FAITH in the One and Only Awesome Triune God of the Universe!

Babylon

Isaiah 13:17-21 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. 18  Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. 19  And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. 20  It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there. 21  But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there. (KJV) . . . Isaiah was written around 762 to 698 B.C.

Jeremiah 51:24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD. (KJV)
Jeremiah 51:26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD. (KJV)
Jeremiah 51:43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby. (KJV) . . . Jeremiah was written around 629 to 599 B.C.

Daniel chapter 5 and 6:28 also predicted the fall of Babylon.  Daniel was written around 570 to 536 B.C.
Together, these prophets predicted:
#1. The Medes and Persians would conquer Babylon. Babylon was conquered in 538 B.C. by Cyrus the Persian, and Darius the Mede. It seems that the city of Babylon had double walls which were many miles in length. The Euphrates river flowed through the city.  After being conquered in 538 B.C., by the Medes and Persians, Babylon slowly became entirely desolate.
Hardly anyone has lived there for ages. Saddam Hussein was in the process of rebuilding Babylon over its original location. Some feel this new end times Babylon will be destroyed by God just like He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah (Isa.13:19; Rev.18).
Some think that the Babylon in Isaiah 13 and Jeremiah 51 as well as Revelation, is Saudi Arabia which is in a desert, which is surrounded by seas.

Edom

Isaiah 34:6-15 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea. 7  And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness. 8  For it is the day of the LORD'S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. 9  And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. 10  It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever. 11  But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness. 12  They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing. 13  And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls. 14  The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest. 15  There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate. (KJV) . . . Isaiah was written around 762 to 698 B.C.
Jeremiah 49:16-18 Thy terribleness hath deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD. 17  Also Edom shall be a desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof. 18  As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it. (KJV) . . . Jeremiah was written around 629 to 599 B.C.
This prophecy predicted:
#1. Edom would be defeated.
#2. The land of Edom shall for ever smoke and be void of people.

Tyre

Ezekiel 26:3-5 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.
4  And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus, and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock. 5  It shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a spoil to the nations.
 (KJV)
Ezekiel 26:7 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and companies, and much people. (KJV)
Ezekiel 26:12 And they shall make a spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses: and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the water. (KJV)
Ezekiel 26:14 And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. (KJV)
Ezekiel 26:16 Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble at every moment, and be astonished at thee. (KJV) . . . Ezekiel was written around 593 to 571 B.C.
Ezekiel 26:21 I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD. (KJV)
This prophecy predicted:
#1. Nebuchadnezzar would conquer Tyre, a powerful and glorious city. Fulfilled in 573 B.C.
#2. Many nations would fight against Tyre. This was first fulfilled by Nebuchadnezzar when he couquered Tyre as a king of many nations. It seems that he forced soldiers from many nations to serve in his army. At a later time, part of the prophecy was fulfilled again in 332 B.C. by Alexander the Great. Down through the centuries that followed, many nations came against Tyre until it was finally destroyed in 1291 A.D.
#3. Tyre's stones, timber, and even dust would go into the sea. The city would be made flat, like the top of a rock.  Actually, under Alexander the Great, the stones, timber, and even dust from the daughter of Tyre, on the west coast of Lebanon, was dumped into the sea, to build a land bridge to Mother Tyre, which was actually a fortress like island, a short distance away.
#4. Referring to this powerful and glorious Tyre, God said thou shalt be no more .

The Gate of Jerusalem

Ezekiel 44:1-3 Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut. 2  Then said the LORD unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the LORD, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut. 3  It is for the prince; the prince, he shall sit in it to eat bread before the LORD; he shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate, and shall go out by the way of the same. (KJV) . . . . Ezekiel was written around 593 to 571 B.C. This prophecy predicted:
#1. This precise gate would be shut. Fulfilled 1543 A.D.
#2. It seems that this gate would stay shut until it opens to allow Jesus, the LORD (Jehovah) God, to enter Jerusalem through it. To “eat bread before the Lord” is a symbol of worship and promise (Gen. 31:54). To eat with someone was a sign of friendship and fellowship. It was one way to seal a covenant.
Also note in Ezekiel that there is no hint that the prince is divine. The New Testament deity of the Messiah was a surprise (mystery) because it seems to conflict with monotheism. Only the New Testament clearly reveals this surprising Truth and clears up the mystery (John 1:1-14; Phil. 2:6-11; Col. 1:15-18; Heb. 1:2-3).

What is a mystery in Scripture? It is NOT a whodunit or a mystery story, and it is NOT something you wonder about: Was it the butler who committed the crime? A mystery in Scripture means that God is revealing something, that up to that time, He had not revealed. There are two elements which always enter into a New Testament mystery: #1. It cannot be discovered by man, for it is always a revelation from God; and #2. it is revealed at the right time and not concealed, and enough is revealed to establish the fact without all the details being disclosed.
There are fifteen mysteries in the New Testament:
#1. The mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven (Mat.13:3-50; Mk.4:11; Lk.8:10).
#2. The mystery of His will (Eph.1:9).
#3. The great mystery of Christ and His church (Eph. 5:32; Col.4:3).
#4. The mystery of the Gospel (Eph.6:19).
#5. The mystery of Israel's blindness during this age (Rom.11:25).
#6. The mystery of the faith (1 Tim.3:9).
#7. The mystery of the translation of living saints at the end of this age (1 Cor.15:51-52; 1 Thes.4:13-17).
#8. The mystery of the N.T. Church as one body composed of Jews and Gentiles (Eph.3:1-12; 6:19; Rom.16:25; Col.4:3).
#9. The mystery of the Church as the bride of Christ  (Eph.5:23-32).
#10. The mystery of being in Christ (Gal.2:20; Col.1:26-27).
#11.  The mystery of Christ as the incarnate fullness of the Godhead embodied, in whom all the divine wisdom for man subsists (1 Cor.2:7; Col.2:2,9).
#12. The mystery of godliness (1 Tim.3:16).
#13. The mystery of iniquity (2 Thes.2:7; Mat.13:33).
#14. The mystery of the seven stars (Rev.1:20).
#15. The mystery of the woman (Rev.17:5,7).
My friend, even with all these, God has NOT revealed everything to us. There are many things God has NOT told us, because it is not necessary for us to know. When it is necessary, He will reveal them to us.

An Increase in Knowledge and Travel

Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (KJV) . . . Daniel 12:4. Daniel was written around 570 to 536 B.C.
This prophecy in Daniel predicted knowledge and travel would increase during the end
times. This has been fulfilled! In this old woman’s lifetime, it is mind-boggling! As a child, my grandfather worked his farm with a team of those big draft horses. Today, the humongous tractors take the place of 1000 horses! Transportation was a humble car or truck back then, at 40 or 50 MPH . . . now a person can fly around the world in just a few hours and people are going into space. Knowledge back then was very limited, considering what it is today. Technology in the Universe is exploding.

Jerusalem - a burdensome stone to the world

Zechariah 12:2-3 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3  And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. (KJV)
Zechariah 12:9-10 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (KJV)
Zechariah 14:1-5 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2  For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3  Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5  And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. (KJV)
Zechariah 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. (KJV) . . . Zechariah written around 518 B.C.
This prophecy precisely predicts:
#1. In the last days, Jerusalem will be a burdensome stone to the nations of the world.
#2. ALL nations will fight against Judah and Jerusalem.
#3. Jerusalem will be conquered and half of her people will be taken captive.
#4. Then the Lord will fight against the nations that fight against Jerusalem and Judah. The Lord shall WIN, and will destroy the nations that fight Israel. BELIEVE IT!!!

Bodies Destroyed While Still Standing

Zechariah 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. (KJV) . . . Zechariah 14:12 written around 518 B.C.
This prophecy specifically predicts the future:
#1. In a future nuclear war, the flesh, the eyes, and the tongues of those who fight against Israel  will decay or be consumed while they are still standing on their feet. In today’s world, nuclear weapons can deteriorate standing soldiers before they can even fall to the ground. None of us know what God knows, nor what manner He will use to accomplish this. God’s wrath is aroused by sin, and hatred of Israel is SIN in God’s eyes! BEWARE!!!

All Mankind Destroyed

Matthew 24:21-22 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22  And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. (KJV) . . . This prophecy in Matthew 24:21-22 was written around 65 A.D.
Jesus Himself predicted:
#1. All human beings would die during the Great Tribulation, which is yet to come, unless God shorten those terribly destructive days. With the nuclear weapons, either the United States or Russia, could destroy all life on planet earth several times over. When Jesus said all flesh would die during the Great Tribulation  . . . unless God stepped in . . . there were NO  nuclear weapons.

An Army of 200 Million

Revelation 9:13-16 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14  Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15  And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. 16  And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them. (KJV)
Revelation 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. (KJV) . . . Revelation was written around 95 A.D.
John’s prophecy states:
#1. An army of 200 million soldiers will cross the Euphrates River and kill many people as they head West. When John wrote Revelation there were only 200 million people on the face of the Earth. It has been said that China which is East of the Euphrates River could have 200 million armed soldiers.

HOW could the Bible accurately and precisely predict ALL these happenings in such great detail? The Bible is 100% accurate in its predictions because our eternal God knows the future and He gave this information to the writers of the Bible. Dear one, you can trust what the Bible says about everything! Do NOT doubt!
