NOAH

Genesis 6:8-13 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (KJV)

Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD! IF Noah found grace, God had examined ALL of mankind, and only Noah pleased God. My friend, Noah was an absolute fool in the eyes of the people of his day. Today, those faithful ones who believe that the Bible says God made the Earth, and then destroyed the Earth because of sin, in a universal Flood are called fools and laughed at by the world, just as they mocked Noah! Modern, over educated scientists ridicule those uneducated pople who reject evolution that is based on uniformitarianism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniformitarianism

Uniformitarianism teaches all the geological phenomena on Earth may be explained as resulting from observable processes that we see in operation today. These nuts reject the miracle of the Flood and deny that God has intervened in history. Because they cannot SEE what caused the Flood in operation today, even though they can clearly SEE the evidence around them, they deny that the Flood actually happened. My friend, they are rejecting God. We knew a young man years ago, who said that two years of college had ruined him. He said it removed all his common sense. He could not think for himself. That is how I feel about these educated fools who reject God! Noah was a righteous man who professed to know God. Noah believed God. The sinful men of his day refused to believe in the Almighty Creator. This was the difference between Noah and the rest of mankind. Noah was the minority. Noah was alone in believing in God, yet he was right and everyone else was wrong. Noah submitted himself completely to God and worshiped Him. Because Noah believed, his faith was counted as righteousness and God saved him and his family. Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. (KJV)

The wickedness of all those around him did not stop him from trusting God and being obedient to Him. The rest of the world was deep in terrible sin, but Noah stood firm in his faith! The warning should be very clear to us. Even though the world around us is deep in great sin, and worsening on a daily basis, we must, like Noah, stay faithful to the Lord. Noah was a man the same as all men. He was tempted to sin. He had a carnal nature the same as all other men. He CHOSE to live for God, and the Lord gave him strength to walk in a righteous manner each and every day. The same awesome power is available to us, IF we believe God and let God direct our lives.

Did God Really Tell Noah of the Coming Judgment? YES! HE DID!

Genesis 6:11-13 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. (KJV)

God has a plan for the world, and He will not allow His plans for the world to be destroyed even by the willful disobedience of man to sin and destroy himself. If the corruption and violence on Earth had continued, in time, it would have been possible that there would have been no righteous men on Earth. God in His goodness, extended His grace to mankind in that He chose to use the last family on Earth who believed, to save mankind. God had promised that one day One would come who would undo the work of Satan in the Garden of Eden (Gen.3:15).

God Instructs Noah How to Build the Ark

Genesis 6:14-16 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. (KJV)

There is no doubt in my mind that building that ark must have brought great ridicule from ALL Noah's neighbors. Noah was building a boat in the middle of a desert, in a land up until then had seen no rain. There is NO doubt at all that the laughing, mocking, ridicule, scorn, torment and persecution that Noah encountered day after day, could not have been tolerated, had it not been for the strength of the Lord sustaining him. We need to remember that when times get rough, we have help! Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (KJV)

Noah told them that there was a great Flood coming and then preceded to build this enormous boat on dry land. It had not rained on Earth before the flood. Many think the surface waters on Earth were only in shallow seas. Where was this huge boat going to to float? They could not believe what they could not see. It made no difference at all that God had said it. If they would have believed God, they would have believed what God said. The ark was 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet height figuring the cubic as 18 inches. The ark really was not a ship but rather a barge. The ark was not designed to travel under power, or be guided by Noah, it was simply to float upright in very rough waters. The ark was constructed of gopher wood. Some translate the word as cypress, but no one can be sure this is correct. Many thousands of plant life and trees became extinct after the flood. Gopher wood just may be one of these extinct trees. To make the barge water tight it was sealed inside and out with pitch, probably a tar like substance. Inside the ark Noah was to build rooms. These would be for Noah and his family as living quarters, and thousands of compartments for the animals. The ark was to have three decks and have a window of one cubic (18 inches) in the highest deck. This window probably was in the top of the highest deck and ran the entire length of the ark. This would provide adequate air and ventilation. Some have estimated the ark as having 95,000 sq. feet of floor space, about 1,396,000 cubic feet. Comparing the ark’s size to freight cars, it would be equal to ten freight trains of 52 cars each. There is a very important spiritual truth found in Noah and the ark. Noah worked and did what seemed utterly ridiculous, and was God's lone witness to that wicked world. He was totally obedient to God. God could have saved Noah and his family in many different ways. But God has chosen to use the work of man, directed by Him, as the means of offering salvation to the world. It is just as true today as it was then. Noah first believed God, then in faith he went about the work that God had for him to do. Noah preached for about 100 years before the Flood came. Noah not only preached of the coming judgment of God, but he could be seen to be about the business of living for God every day of his life (Gen. 6:9). Noah not only gave the Lord lip service, he also worked hard physically, as all could see to be obedient to what God told him to do. It took 100 years of toil, sweat and hard labor to build the ark. Although the world thought Noah to be a nut-case, they could not say that he did not believe and live what he professed. The world knows what is right and what is right behavior for one who says he is a child of God, and the world also knows what a hypocrite is. The person who claims to know Christ and lives like all the rest of the world is NO witness for the Lord. It is not that the world does not know of Christ and the Truth, but they see little proof that is has much effect on those who claim to profess it. It is sad to say that in the majority of those who use the Name of Christ (Christian), do not claim the power of God to help in their daily life.
