FALSE DOCTRINES

MAJOR DECEPTION

The so-called “Christian” world is in great danger of being utterly deceived . . . and they are NOT even aware of it. People picture the Antichrist in a way that is extremely distorted and wrong. Their understanding of the Bible's warnings is little to none. The coming Antichrist will NOT be an lunitic monster whom any child would recognize as satanic. Just the opposite, he will be a gifted speaker who will be able to deceive even some of God’s children IF they are not careful (Mat.24:23-24). The Bible pictures the Antichrist in a very different way; as someone who will bless the children, favor religion, and be sympathetic with the troubles of the oppressed. He will claim to be an anointed “Christian.”

The Bible states:
Mat. 24:5
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (KJV)
Mark 13:6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (KJV)
Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. (KJV)

These three Gospels declare a very unified warning! But people are getting farther and farther from God and His Word, they simply are not aware of the dangers ahead. The warning is NOT heard any where today. Notice that Jesus says that these false prophets, who are supposedly “Christians,” will deceive MANY. When Jesus spoke the above warnings, He spoke of what would happen in the last days. If we are in the last days, as many Christians think, and as the signs of the times indicate, then WHY aren’t more people witnessing about the MANY false prophets and false teachers who are deceiving MANY Christians. MANY is not just a few. MANY would be thousands and millions.

WHERE IS THE LAODICEAN CHURCH?

Revelation 3:14-22 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; [15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. [16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. [17] Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: [18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. [19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. [20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. [21] To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. [22] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (KJV)

There are 11 bad and no good things mentioned of the Laodicean church in Rev 3:14-22. This church has forgotten that Jesus is the ultimate Authority, that He is true, and that He is the only Judge. They have forgotten that He is faithful, that He is Almighty God, and that He created all things.

Our Lord, Jesus really came down hard on this deceived church . . . BUT . . . it sees itself as "the best." It is the only church of the seven churches mentioned by Jesus which will be spit out (rejected).

Jesus says that this church is lukewarm, it is indifferent, not concerned with right and wrong, not concerned with good and evil. They take a neutral position. They sit on the fence. They compromise. They try to serve TWO masters: God and the world (self). And the worst part . . . they KNOW they are right. Their understanding of God and His Word, obedience, sin, repentance, and the fruits of the Spirit, is only lukewarm.

This is the worst of all the seven churches, but the most confident. They claim they are rich, increased with goods, and have no need of anything . . . BUT . . . God sees them as wretched, which is the result of having no faith or faith like a boisterous wave. Their deception comes from lack of Truth, lack of sound doctrine, and no understanding. They are miserable, tossed back and fporth with false doctrines, which come like wind from every direction. They are poor . . . in wisdom, in knowledge, in faith, and in the Word of God. They really do not want to learn the Truth. They are totally blind to their true condition and to Satan’s tricks. They really do think their condition is opposite of what it really is. They listen only to teachers that say what their selfishness, emotions, and deceived hearts want to hear (2 Tim.4:3-4). They are are clothed with the blackness of sin and deceit . . . shamefully naked in the eyes of Almighty God. They do not have on the white garments of righteousness. Jesus reveals this church as naked, but they CANNOT see these things about themselves. They really think that they are saved, but are absolutely wrong. The fool rageth and is confident (Pro.14:16). They are absolutely unaware of their true spiritual condition. They are willingly ignorant, and so deceived and blind that they do not even know that the letter to the church of the Laodiceans is actually a letter to THEM, from Jesus!

This church has NO desire whatsoever to change, or to repent, for they believe they are on the right road! They go to church on Sunday, sing spiritual songs, pray to God; then Monday through Saturday live as if Jesus does not exist. They behave and probably believe they will never have to face judgment.

Laodiceans are told to buy of Jesus gold that is refined by the fire. Gold is a symbol of TRUE religion, which is a TRUE relationship with Christ. They are told to anoint their eyes with ointment, so they can SEE their true spiritual condition as God sees it. The Lord admonishes them to be zealous for the things of God . . . wisdom, knowledge, and Truth . . . and to hate every evil way. He is telling them to repent.

Jesus is shown outside the door of this church, NOT inside. He is shown as knocking on the door of the individual’s heart, but the Laodiceans do NOT want to let Him in. They do NOT want to be shown they are wrong and will perish. They do NOT want to see their true blind and wretched condition. They do NOT want correction or truth. So often, ministers, churches, and ministries focus more on getting money . . . . more people, rather than on humbleness, brokenness, and sound Biblical doctrine.

This is a description of the last church . . . the worst of all, in which the entire church is described as being spit out (or perishing). This is a description of the most confident church of them all, yet it is the most deceived church that has ever existed; however, they do not know it. This is the description of today’s church. The verses on the Laodicean church are in perfect harmony with many other verses that tell how the times would be, leading up to the Tribulation. We would all be wise to heed the Words of Jesus: Rev 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (KJV)

TODAY ’S CHURCH

This is probably the church from which the Antichrist will emerge. It is the church Paul talked about that would not endure sound doctrine, but would gather around them teachers that would say what their itching ears wanted and desired to hear (2 Tim 4:3).

Jesus was asked about the sign of His coming. The first thing He said was:
Mat. 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (KJV)
Mark 13:6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (KJV)
Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, (KJV)

BEFORE Jesus warned about wars and rumors of wars; BEFORE He warned about famines, earthquakes, and diseases; BEFORE He told about the Gospel being published among all nations, He warned about the religious deception that would come. This is that church age. In the history of the seven churches, there has never been a church age so filled with deceptive doctrines and ideas, yet so totally ignorant of its true condition.

This is in harmony with the Scriptures relating to the coming of the Lord being as in the days of Noah, wherein FEW souls were saved. Despite the overwhelming witness of God’s Word, regarding this church, they are in total ignorance of the Truth, often preaching just the opposite.

Today’s church is full of deception; and it will perish. There are some who think that more than 50% of Americans are born again. I CANNOT agree with that. The closer we get to the end . . . According to what Jesus said . . . And what the apostle Paul said, things are getting worse with each passing day. Luke 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (KJV) Our Lord is really asking: shall He find loyalty, faithfulness in this land when He comes? The answer is No!

Today’s church is where people are highly entertained and made to feel good, instead of falling upon their knees in godly sorrow for their sin. It is a church for laughing instead of crying. It is a church of saying a sinner’s prayer and believing a person is saved, even though afterward there is absolutely NO evidence of repentance, the fruits of the Spirit, doing the will of God, or the fruits of the works of God. My friend, repeating the "sinner's prayer" will get you NOWHERE with God unless your heart is right with Him! In many cases, the preachers know these things, but will NOT tell their congregations the truth. Some are afraid that people might leave their church and go some where else (and they would). These preachers love the praise of men more than the praise of God (John 12:43). Having many unsaved or lukewarm people filling the pews means much more money to them than having a few “on fire,” spiritual people.

This is the church when multitudes of "Christian" preachers preside over funerals . . . stating that the deceased is now in Heaven . . . when, in reality, he/she is screaming in agony, tormented in the flames of Hell. When is the last time you ever heard a preacher say at a funeral that the deceased person went to Hell? The Bible clearly shows that only a “few” are truly saved by the grace of God; BUT, if you listen to the preachers at funerals, you would think that everyone goes to Heaven. Universalism is a FALSE doctrine!!! Jesus clearly tells us: Mat.7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: [14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (KJV)

The 'preaching' in MANY of today’s churches, consists of absolute foolishness, jokes, storytelling, and teaching that pleases people, INSTEAD of God’s pure and Holy Word, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ that can lead to salvation of souls. Preachers do NOT preach: Pro.24:9 The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men. (KJV) There are some real comedians in the pulpits. We are to imitate Jesus! Did Jesus teach and preach as the preachers do today? No, He did NOT!

Preaching, in many of today’s churches, consists of a few Bible verses; then the preacher talks about himself, his family, and incidents that relate to the verses. The people learn very little or nothing about the Lord Jesus. They learn very little or nothing of the WORD OF GOD. What a blind church age, when what is being taught is what other people and other books say, but they ignore what God says in His Word! God’s Word is really diluted. They preach a watered-down version. 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (KJV)

NO man . . . ONLY the Holy Spirit can open a person’s heart to understand and repent. So very few preachers seem to realize this. God’s Word clearly tells us: 2 Tim. 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. (KJV) Preachers shall be judged by how they preach! Peter says here PREACH THE WORD . . . JESUS is the WORD. He is outside the church knocking, but just a paltry “few” have ears to hear! They are so blind! So deaf!

So many biblical prophecies bear witness to the fact that Christ Jesus is SOON to return! BUT, many churches refuse to teach Bible prophecy. So much of the Bible is prophecy, but it is simply ignored. Many churches teach on love, but exhibit NO love toward other born again people outside of their own local church. Many churches think they can see how blind other churches are, but fail to see how blind they themselves are. Mat.7:3-5 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? [4] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? [5] Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. (KJV)

Far too many Bible schools and churches teach this way today, and think, "I have done no wrong." In their blindness, they fulfill the Laodicean prophecies. So many church members say “I’m a Christian” but are entangled in every sort of sin imaginable. “Times have changed” they say! Many of these people hold positions of authority. They may oversee the church’s business affairs, including the hiring and firing of pastors, yet they are spiritually dead and ignorant of God’s Word. The church has been infected with leaven (false doctrine) (Mat.16:6,11-12; Mk.8:15; Luke 12:1; 1 Cor.5:6-8; Gal.5:8), which has grown like a full blown cancer. The entire church is infected and sick, but does not know it.

In today’s church, some missionaries think that many in Africa shall be raptured when Jesus comes for the TRUE church. It is estimated that 80% of African couples living together are not even married, when viewed in light of God’s Word. Some just move in together. Others may pay part of a dowry, or say they will pay it, and then set up housekeeping and have children. They live in fornication, yet believe they are married. (Marriage customs vary somewhat from nation to nation, or from tribe to tribe.) Many of these are professing Christian preachers. Many other "so-called" Christian preachers have several wives. Many of the churches are divided against each other. Squabbling has led to further splits and even hatred (1 John 3:15).

Some American missionaries bring false doctrines and deceptions of the Laodicean age with them to the mission field and deceive people. A Christian is NOT to partake of traditions that oppose the Word of God. It is WRONG for “Christian” pastors to allow these practices among the congregation. To do so is sin and only serves to perpetuate the "leaven." Mat.18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (KJV)

Murder, theft, drugs, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, abortions, greed, materialism, blasphemy, swearing, vulgar language, dirty jokes, gossip, hatred, idolatry, etc, etc. Every sin imaginable exists in the USA. BUT, many of the unrepentant people that do these things attend church on Sunday as if they have done no wrong. But, while at church, rarely, if ever, do they ever hear preaching against sin; rarely, if ever, do they hear the word "repent."

In many churches people sing, and sing, and sing, but really do NOT know what God’s Word has to say. They know the words to many songs, but know little about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many pastors may “pray” for hours a day, but spend only a few minutes reading God’s Word. They pray to a God they don’t even know! The Bible says God will NOT hear a sinner! (Deut.31:18; Isa. 1:15; 58;9; 59;2-3; John 9:31). SO, most of those “prayers” never reach God!

The church today is blind and don’t even know it. Jesus said it would happen; and it has come to pass. As birth pangs of a woman, it will continue to get worse until, finally, the trumpet sounds and Jesus calls those few faithful, fruit-bearing Christians home. The Laodicean Christians of this generation will be spit out, like nauseating warm water! They shall be left behind. The majority will continue on in their deceptive path and refuse to believe the Truth until it is way too late.

The Truth of much of God’s Word (Jesus) has been abandoned and rejected by this church today. Just as Jesus is seen standing outside of His church knocking on the door, so the Laodiceans will be left out of Heaven, UNLESS they repent. Can you see the Truth? Very few can.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Satan has brought great persecutions to the church in the past; but he did not destroy the church. Today, Satan is trying to use less persecutions and MORE false doctrine mixed with a little of the Truth. THIS has been more successful. Satan uses prosperity, selfishness, false doctrine, and lukewarm preaching mixed with the a little of the Truth; and he has almost destroyed the church. Remember, there is not one good thing mentioned about the Laodicean church from the words of Jesus.

Rev. 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; (KJV)

Descriptions of Jesus. #1. The Amen. #2. The faithful and true witness. #3. The Beginning of the Creation of God.

#1. The descriptions of Jesus tell us much about the Laodicean church. The "AMEN" means, "so be it, it is true." This is reminding the church that Jesus is sovereign, He is true. Jesus is the final Word, the one and only true Judge, and the final Authority. He is Almighty God (John 10:30). This "Truth" has been largely rejected in the Laodicean church age.

#2. The Faithful and True Witness. Jesus is faithful. Jesus is the true Witness. His Word is true. The church of today has forgotten this. Jesus opposes the ridiculous opinions that they have of themselves. What Jesus says is true . . . what they say (and think) is wrong.

#3. The Beginning of the Creation of God. Millions forget, or don’t even know: John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (KJV) Col.1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: (KJV) Eph.3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: (KJV) Heb.1:2-3 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; [3] Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (KJV) Satan’s deception of evolution is now widely accepted as truth, and the Truth (fact) that God created ALL things has been rejected by much of the Laodicean church.

NO GOOD THINGS! Rev. 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (KJV) Jesus knows everything about churches AND individuals. He knows the works of His people, things done BOTH in the open and in secret. The description of the works of this church are completely unacceptable in God's eyes! Jesus reveals so clearly, that NO good or acceptable works come forth from this church. NO good things!

BAD THINGS! Rev.3:16 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (KJV) If a person is cold, it is possible that he/she can be reached for Jesus. BUT . . . Jesus prefers that His servants were "hot" (on fire for Him). God's people SHOULD be "hot" in knowledge and in enthusiasm for Him. But, He would prefer them to be cold rather than “lukewarm.” Many of today’s churches are like a social club. They have committees, programs, recreation, entertainment, paid singers, comedians, etc. There is so much to lure a person in and to please their carnal nature. There are many "revivals," BUT . . . The Gospel is NOT preached. Repentance for sin is NOT preached. People do NOT fall to their knees because the Holy Spirit does NOT convict them of their sin. There is NO crying out in brokenness because of their sins.

These revivals rarely, if ever, make a person "hunger for righteous" (Mat.5:6). They do NOT spend hours a day studying God’s Word and humbly seeking Him in prayer. And if one does come to Jesus, he may be quickly "cooled off," for they are surrounded by friends, relatives, local churches, radio and television preachers, who may bring forth the false and lukewarm message of compromise, deceit, and truth all mixed together. In today’s churches, there may be 1 out 1000 preachers (maybe) that might bring sound doctrine, but these faithful servants of God are most often quickly discredited and shunned by everyone around him. So, the lukewarm church becomes the accepted way of truth, and sound doctrine is viewed as the way of deceit. God clearly states in: Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (KJV) . . . God absolutely shall judge the preachers AND the congregations who are part of this lukewarm church!

One word of warning: many preachers take pride that they have gotten so many to say a sinner’s prayer. AGAIN, let me repeat: Voicing the words mean absolutely NOTHING . . . Unless those words sincerely came from your heart! God knows your heart my friend! He knows your every thought! Unless you are sincere in your commitment to Jesus, you can say the “sinner’s prayer” a million times and it will do you NO good whatsoever! Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. (KJV) Trust is NOT enough in God’s eyes! You must trust AND obey!

Today’s modern churches think that more money and more things to attract the carnal nature will convert the world. How sad! True conversion comes ONLY through the work of the Holy Spirit. The church today is centered on "self" rather than on Jesus. It lures and tempts with promises of miracles, healings, prosperity, good times, fellowship, and friends. The doctrine of "Name it, claim it" is horrendous to say the least! God does NOT promise wealth to all His people! He never has and He never will! God does NOT promise good health to everyone! He never has, and He never will! We must take up our cross daily (DENY SELF), and follow where ever He leads us. We must TRUST Him!

The modern church does NOT tell people that if they follow Jesus, the biblical way, they can expect problems, persecutions, the loss of friends, ridicule, false accusations, their name dragged through the mud, and their families may forsake them. They are NOT told that they may get very sick, enduring much pain and anguish. They are NOT told that Satan will be working overtime to try to get them to renounce their decision about Christ. They are rarely ever told, by any preacher, how blind and wretched this Laodicean church is.

Of the “few,” TRUE Christians that do exist, no matter what they go through, Jesus will be with them (Mat.28:20; Heb.13:5).

Jesus described the Laodicean church as lukewarm. They are sure they are right and righteous. Their self-assurance is so deep that it’s almost impossible to reach them with the Truth. Lukewarm comes from mixing together hot and cold. They are NOT cold toward God, but neither are they hot. They are content, indifferent, and uncaring about what God considers right and good. They really are NOT concerned with what is right and wrong or what is good and evil. They take a neutral position, trying to serve God, but are also trying to please men. They try to serve two masters. This is unacceptable to God. They are “of the world” (1 John 2:16) and have not denied themselves. They are not following Jesus BUT they are sure they are. They know about Jesus, but their life revolves around things of the world and worldly circumstances. They do not understand the strait gate and narrow way (Mat.7:13-14).

JESUS’ SERIOUS WARNING. Rev. 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: (KJV) The entire Laodicean church will be spit out and perish in an everlasting Hell. There will be such a small number from this church that will repent, not even the word "few" is used as it was in the "dead" church of Sardis. The lukewarm people will NOT be taken when the Rapture comes.

MORE BAD THINGS. Laodicea was prosperous. This church thought it was rich. There are many large, beautiful church buildings today. BUT Jesus shows the heart of this church and what they are teaching is WRONG. They have need of nothing! It’s all about self! They are satisfied. They are content.

Knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked? Jesus is showing that they are not in the light as they think they are, but are in utter darkness, unable to see their true condition. They refuse to believe they are going to die and perish in an everlasting Hell. They are completely deceived. Jesus continues to reveal the true condition of this church. The condition of this church reflects that of the Bible schools and what is being preached from the pulpits, and what is being taught by the missionaries, and what is in the people’s hearts.

Being wretched comes from no faith, lukewarm faith, or faith like a wave. It comes from a lack of truth and understanding. It comes from being taught a form of the milk of God’s Word, which is so diluted by other things mixed in with it, that people are no longer standing upon the Rock of Truth. This church hears lukewarm preaching and comes away empty and unfulfilled, and in such darkness that it is content; it does not even know it is wretched. This word appears only one other time in the New Testament. It is in Rom. 7:24, where Paul describes himself, by saying, "O wretched man that I am." Unlike Paul, the Laodicean church CANNOT see its condition.

They are miserable (pitiful), but do not know it. This is the result of being wretched. They are tossed around with all kinds of doctrines that come in like the wind from all directions. The Truth has been set aside to please people’s flesh. The popularity of the preacher replaces the appeal of Jesus, which is the Word of God.

They are poor but do not know it. They are poor in wisdom, in knowledge, in faith, and in understanding the Word of God. They are not zealous (on fire, hungry) for the Truth.

They are blind but they do not know it. They are blind regarding God’s Word, in salvation, in repentance, in discerning fruit, in who is saved, in understanding what Satan is doing, and in recognizing the falling away (apostasy) that is happening and has already happened. Many preach revival is coming, but the opposite is true. They are falling farther and farther away from God. They think they can stomp Satan under their feet, BUT Satan is stomping them under his feet, and they don't even know it. They call deceit, truth and truth, deceit. Many preachers also think they are rich in knowledge, as they proudly display their college degrees on the wall of their office and have shelves filled with hundreds of books "about" the Bible. Their large church seems to testify that they are spiritually in the light. Yet Jesus said that this church is BLIND. They teach the gifts of the Spirit, but do not demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit. God’s Word teaches water baptism by full immersion (Rom. 6:4; Col 2:12), and Jesus’ disciples spent much time baptizing people; yet some of today’s churches teach against water baptism. Others argue that sprinkling baptism is the right way, and some baptize in the name of Jesus only. What did Jesus say? Mat. 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (KJV)

Many preachers and teachers do NOT teach that we are to obey God’s Word and keep His commandments (Mat.22:36-40). They talk about God’s love, BUT do NOT teach that the proof of a person’s love for God is demonstrated by their obedience to Him. John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. (KJV)

They are naked and do not know it. Nakedness reveals a person’s condition. They are exposed. They have no clothing on. Their condition is shameful. They think they are covered by grace but are NOT. Spiritual nakedness indicates no covering. It illustrates that they are NOT covered with God’s Word, with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that come only from His Word! They are NOT covered with the Blood of Jesus by true faith that is evidenced by what they do. It is written: James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (KJV) They are covered with the deception of Satan! They do NOT know that they are naked and lukewarm. They do NOT realize that they shall perish in the depths of Hell. This worldly rich church may think highly of itself, but its wretched condition is shamefully naked before God.

JESUS’ ADVICE ON WHAT TO DORev. 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. (KJV) Buy of me gold tried in the fire . . . this church has gold (worldly riches, treasure) BUT it is the wrong kind! Their gold will NEVER get them to Heaven! The refined gold from Jesus is the Word of God . . . It is righteousness that comes from faith (1 Cor.1:30).

Anoint thine eyes with eye salve . . . Because this church is spiritually blind, they are being cautioned to use eye salve, so their blindness (spiritual) might be cured. They do NOT have spiritual discernment. Their understanding of their condition is opposite of the Truth, indicating that Satan’s deceptions in this church are enormous, which is why Jesus said: Mat.24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. (KJV) This church does NOT love Truth!

Rev. 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. (KJV) Be zealous . . . passionate, fervent, earnest, sincere. And repent . . . turn from your sins. Believe God and His Word, and believe what He is saying to this church. DO what Jesus said to do. Obey the Gospel. Put on eye salve that you may see and understand. Be zealous and repent. WHY??? (1) That thou mayest be rich . . . NOT earthly riches, but spiritual (eternal) riches! (2) White raiment . . . is the righteousness of Christ (1 Cor.1:30). Any clothing other than the righteousness of Christ, results in stark nakedness in God‘s eyes! (3) That thou mayest be clothed . . . You MUST be properly dressed to enter Heaven! (4) That the shame of thy nakedness do not appear . . . This church is naked; it has no clothes on. The nakedness of this church is clear only to a few in this generation. It is shameful. (5) That thou mayest see . . . We must examine ourselves . . . Deny self and humbly and honestly look at yourself in light of God’s Word.

Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (KJV) Jesus gives us a very sad picture of the Laodicean church. He is standing outside this church, NOT inside. Laodicea means the rights of the people. They do NOT want to let Jesus (the Word) rule them. The terrifying fact is . . . since they will not let Jesus in, neither will He let them in Heaven at the judgment. HOW can Jesus be on the outside of the church? Simple! Self and worldliness.

Jesus is talking to the individual. Salvation is a very personal thing! Each individual that will hear the voice of Jesus and opens the door of his/her heart, Jesus promises eternal fellowship with Him. Jesus will NOT open the door! Only YOU can open it.

Rev. 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. (KJV) We overcome (1 John 5:4-5) by believing God and walking the narrow road in faith. Jesus is at this time sitting at the right hand of God the Father (Mark 16:19; Acts 2:33; Col.3:1; Heb.10:12; 1 Pet.3:22). BUT, during the Millennium, Jesus will sit upon His own throne here on Earth. We who overcome, are given the Promise . . . to sit with Jesus in His throne. I hope and pray that you have spiritual ears . . . And LISTEN to what Jesus says to this end time church.
