HOW God’s Kingdom Shall Come
Millions look forward for Christ Jesus’ Return, to set up the Kingdom of God. But very few know how He will do this. It will not happen the way most expect. This article will hopefully tell how God’s Kingdom will be established over all nations.
When we stop and consider today’s world, and all the advances in technology, it baffles the mind. What was once science fiction . . . today is reality. Material prosperity abounds for millions of people across the Western world. But what about the half of mankind . . . millions . . . who have very little or nothing at all?
We should also consider man’s dreadfully fast decline in values, morals and character . . . which was once the most important foundation of any society. Are we prepared, and are our leaders really willing to solve these great encounters of civilization . . . or shall a Great Unseen Power step in?
Jesus taught His disciples to pray: Mat. 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (KJV)
Thy Kingdom come! The next thing He said was: Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Our loving God has to send His Kingdom soon . . . to END man’s failure or there will be no world to receive it!
Christ Jesus’ Return, His Coming at the Rapture is so vital to Christianity. Millions are waiting for it. Scoffers deny it . . . but those who know anything of God’s Word KNOW Jesus shall Return. Every prophetic sign states His Coming CANNOT be far away. The Bible speaks openly about HOW Jesus will establish the Kingdom of God, sometimes called the Kingdom of Heaven. Few things could be more important. Jesus Himself plainly described how God’s Kingdom will begin, and it is not what you may think.
How many Comings of Jesus does the Bible describe? Contrasting verses hold the surprising answer. The prophet Haggai wrote of Jesus’ Return.
Haggai 2:6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; (KJV)
For thus saith the Lord of hosts . . . this was for more and greater encouragement to the builders, the Lord of hosts has more to say. By the Word of God, Haggai looks back to when God's revelation by Moses and to His people. The Seed of the woman, who should bruise the serpent's head (Gen.3:15), was promised on the fall of Adam; meaning the Messiah . . . way out in the future, would be the blessing through Abraham's seed (Gen.12:2-3); by Moses, the prophet like unto him (Deut.18:15,18); by David, an everlasting covenant (2 Sam.23:5).
When the time was right, the Messiah would come, and appear in this house (Temple) that they were now building, and give it a greater glory than Solomon's Temple ever had. There are vast multitudes today that would NOT agree with this! Most today would rather have that magnificent gold temple, NOT the glory of God in the form of Jesus!
The sad fact is, the time is coming when we TRUE believers, shall be punished for even mentioning the Name of JESUS! Many do not know it, but "Christian" chaplains are forbidden to speak the Name of Jesus by our government, for fear of offending a Muslim or other cult member. How ridiculous! WHY are the chaplains even there? If a chaplain is professing to be a "Christian" and does what the government tells them . . . they are NOT a Christian! A TRUE Christian MUST speak out and they MUST tell of Christ Jesus because HE is the ONLY Way to Heaven! NO other god can get you to Heaven! NO other religion can get you to Heaven! And for certain, Mary CANNOT get you there! Just JESUS!
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV)
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV)
1 John 5:10-12 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV)
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. (KJV)
Hag. 2:6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; (KJV)
Yet once, it is a little while . . . over 500 years would go by until the birth of Christ. Here it is called "a little while" because God's time clock and our time clock are quite different!
Psalms 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. (KJV)
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (KJV)
And I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land . . . this could mean He intends to make changes in the several kingdoms and nations of the world, between this prophecy and the Coming of Christ, and which soon began to take place; because the Persian monarchy, quickly was shaken and was subdued by the Grecians; and in a little time the Grecian monarchy was destroyed by the Romans, plus other changes they made in each of the nations.
Or, it could mean the wonderful things that were done in the heavens, Earth and sea, at the Birth of Christ, during His life, and at His Death. At His Birth a new star appeared in the heavens, which brought the wise men from the east to visit Him; the angels of Heaven descended, and sang Glory to God in the highest; Herod and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were shaken, moved and troubled at the tidings of His Birth. The people in all parts of Judea were being taxed in their home cities at this time. Stormy winds agitated the waters of the sea in Jesus’ lifetime; on which He walked (Mat.14:26), and which He rebuked (Mk.4:39). This clearly showed Christ Jesus to be the mighty God. At His death the heavens were darkened, the Earth quaked, and rocks were rent asunder (Mat.27:51).
There is something else for us to consider . . . whatever introductions of fulfillment there were at our Lord's First Coming, they shall be minor to the fulfillment in His Second Coming.
Isaiah 24:19-20 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. 20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. (KJV)
After that, follows an announcement of the final judgment of men and angels (Jude 1:6, 14-15; Rev.11:18; 14:7; 20:12), and the Everlasting Kingdom of the Blessed in the Presence of God (Ps.145:13; Dan.4:3,34; 7:14,27; 2 Pet.1:11).
Haggai continues:
Haggai 2:7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. (KJV)
God shall shake all nations . . . by changing governors and forms of government which was done by the Romans, when subdued by them, and by bringing wars which caused changes . . . plus the fact that the nations were shaken by the preaching of the Gospel, both in Judea, and in the Gentile world. The Gospel can indeed shake up hearts and consciences by the Spirit and grace of God. Some who face the Gospel of Christ will submit to it and obey Him and His Truths and ordinances; while the vast majority (Mat. 7:13-14) shall reject it and are filled with disgust, distrust, resentment and hatred, and who rise up to oppose and stop it. I will shake the nations: (Eze.21:27; Dan.2:44-45; 7:20-25; Joel 3:9-16; Lk.21:10-11).
And the desire of all nations shall come . . . NOT the desirable things of all nations, such as their silver and gold . . . but "The desire of all nations" which is the Christ Jesus, the Messiah!
He whom they longed for, either through the knowledge of Him spread by the Jews in their dispersion, or by the aching and craving of the human heart, longing for the restoration from its decay. "The earnest expectation of the creature" did not begin with the Coming of Christ, nor was it limited to those, who actually came to Him (Rom. 8:19-22. "The whole creation," Paul said, "groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."
Dear one, our enslaved soul longs to be free; every motion of grace in the sinful heart of man longs for its Deliverer; our weariness cries out, "Come and help us." Man, being formed in the image of God (Gen.1:26-27), aches to be reformed by and for Him. One far more glorious and excellent, is meant here, the Messiah, in Whom all nations of the Earth were to be blessed (Gen.12:2-3).
The word "come" may mean His common coming in different respects: His Coming as Man (Lk.2:1-20); His Coming for the church (1 Thes.4:13-18); His Coming to indwell us (Jn.14:16-20; Rom.8:9); His Coming to take vengeance on the Jews (Rev. Chapters 6-18); His Coming at the Rapture (1 Thes.4:13-18) and His Second Coming (Zec.14:1-5; Rev.19:11-21).
Haggai said that He will fill this house with glory . . . meaning the awesome Glory which filled the Tabernacle of Moses (Ex.29:43; 40:34-35), and the Temple of Solomon (1 Ki.8:11; 2 Chron.5:14; 7:2), but . . . as great as that Glory was, it would be just a dim shadow of glory compared to the Real One, when Christ appeared in Person, Who is the brightness of His Father's glory (Lk.9:26; Heb.1:1-3).
If you are hungry, Jesus is the Bread of Life (Jn.6:33,35,47-51). If you are thirsty, Jesus is the Water of Life (Jn.4:10-14; Rev.21:6; 22:1). If you are sick, Jesus is the Great Physician (Mat.9:12-13; Mk.2:17; Lk.5:31). If you are confused or worried, Jesus is the Best Counsellor (Ps.73:24; Rom.11:33-36). If you are afraid of dying, Jesus can give you peace (Jn.3:16-17; 5:24; 14:27). If you want beauty, He is "fairer than the children of men" (Ps.45:2). If you want wealth, in Him are "all treasures" (Col.2:2-3) yea in Him "the fullness of the Godhead dwelleth" (Col.2:9). And . . . if you want a friend, there is NO greater Friend than Jesus (Jn.15:13-15). If you want eternal life in Heaven, Jesus IS Eternal Life (Jn.3:15-16; 5:39; 6:54,68; 8:24; 14:6; 17:2-3; 1 Jn.5:20).
Oh, How I love Jesus!
Huge numbers today are hoping for and really do look for Christ’s Coming. Even though most understand little about His Arrival, TRUE Christians desire it, with their desire growing greater with each passing day.
But, let’s see what the Book of Revelation states!
The Book of Revelation speaks of a very different reaction to Jesus’ Coming to that of Haggai.
Rev. 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. (KJV)
The great voices in Heaven announce what has always been true; the world’s Kingdoms belong to God and Christ! ALL the power of the rulers of Earth is gone, ALL is turned over to the rightful Ruler! The eternal reign of God is now here, as prophesied in the Old Testament (Ex.15:18; Ps.2:2; Ps.10:16; Dan.2:44; 7:14,27; Isa.9:6-7; Zech.14:9). This is the beginning of the end of this world as we know it, although several more things must come to pass before the final victory. This will be the answer to our prayer: “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.”
Rev. 11:16-17 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, [17] Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. (KJV)
The twenty-four elders sitting on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped Him, glorifying, honoring and praising the Lord God Almighty, the One who is, the One who always was, and the One who is to come, for now He has begun to reign.
In the reign of Antichrist, God’s Law will be completely forgotten; it will be made null and void by the Beast’s governmental and man-made laws. God’s Word was locked away from the people, but now that will change! The 24 elders fall flat on their faces and worship God for who He is, and for claiming all that has been His all along!
Rev. 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. (KJV)
The nations being angry reveals that the stubborn, stiff-necked rebellion of mankind will continue to the very last moment. The heart of man constantly rebels against God. But, now the time has come, to judge the dead and reward His servants. He will reward His prophets and His TRUE children, and all who fear His Name, from the least to the greatest. He will also destroy all those who have caused destruction on and to the Earth.
People will be furious because God's wrath has come. If you are one who believes that the world is getting better and better, and that God will never punish sin but allow ALL people to access Heaven; you have been led astray . . . FAR astray! You have listening to a FALSE teacher or have reading something else; you certainly have NOT been reading God’s Word! God does indeed intend to punish sinners (unbelievers), and NO ONE will enter Heaven WITHOUT Christ! (Rev.20:14-15; 21:7-8; 22:14-15). This great and incredible Book tells us this Truth over and over again! I do hope that you BELIEVE God! (1 John 5:10-13). God shall destroy ALL who cause corruption, violence, evil and wickedness, and all those who destroy the Earth. Count on it!
The Passages in Revelation 11:15-18 of angry nations and the Passage in Haggai 2:6-7 of the Glory of God, cannot refer to the same time!
Lacking knowledge of Christ’s multiple comings, many people state that He comes and immediately vanquishes all enemies, establishing His Kingdom. Revelation appears to say this, but consider: 1 Cor. 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. (KJV)
The establishment of the Kingdom of God is our focus. No TRUE Christian ever doubts that Christ IS Coming. WHY will He Come? HOW will He come? WHEN is He coming? WHERE will He arrive?
The Bible tells us WHY He must come . . . that is to bring this world back to what it was before the Fall of Adam and Eve (Gen.ch.3).
HOW HE will come? . . . The Bible also tells us of ONE of His Comings, the Rapture (1Thes.4:13-18; 1 Cor.15:51-58). The Bible also tells us of His Return at the battle of Armageddon (Rev.19:11-21).
WHEN is He Coming? He will come first at the Rapture to take TRUE Christians to Heaven. His next appearance will be when He comes at the Battle of Armageddon with the armies of Heaven. This will be angels, not saints, because Jesus said Angels are God’s armies in Heaven (Mat.16:27; 25:31; Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26). ‘Angels’ is never the language used in the Bible to describe Christians.
WHERE will He arrive? . . . He will arrive on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem (Zec.14:1-4).
HOW He will ultimately set up His Kingdom here on Earth . . . I simply do not know the answer to that. But of this, I am certain . . . HE shall get it done and it shall be done right.
