Biblical Prophecies about Israel

It is strange that there are so few Christians today, who understand how important Israel is in God’s Plan! God has prophesied many times in the Bible that the sons and daughters of Israel would return to the land of Israel just before He would send them their Messiah. For almost twenty centuries the children of Israel have not lived in their homeland simply because they did not have a homeland. Ever since 70 A.D. they have lived in different parts of the world, mostly in Europe, but in other continents as well. There has not been a land of Israel for them to return to, not until the twentieth century.
In the twentieth century we saw the re- establishment of the state of Israel, and the return of the Jewish people to their Land. There are about 7.5 million Jewish people who call Israel their home. Many have returned there since the country’s re-establishment in 1948. Their presence is an unbelievable testimony to how close we are to the Return of their Messiah, known to the Gentile world as Christ Jesus!
The story of the Jewish people is an incredible story of pain and frustration. That pain and frustration has come to these people most often at the hands of those who hate them for little or no reason. The Bible predicts those pains and frustrations will finally end when the Messiah, comes to rule and reign in Jerusalem and makes Israel the head of the nations. The Bible specifies when Israel returns to the Land, Israel’s future will be as bright as her past has been dark. Dear one, the complete story, past, present and future of Israel is told to us in the Bible.

The Nation Dispersed

Deut. 28:58-68 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. 61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. 62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. 63  And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. 64 And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone. 65 And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind: 66 And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life: 67 In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see
68 And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you. (KJV)
The Jewish people were warned by Moses about 1400 B.C. that IF they did not serve the LORD and keep all that He had commanded, the LORD would scatter them from one end of the Earth to the other. And not only would they be scattered, but they would endure harsh persecution while in the countries where they were dispersed.
The scattering part of this prophecy was partially fulfilled when Babylon invaded and defeated Israel in 586 BC. It was eventually fulfilled when in 70 A.D., Titus, the Roman general, invaded Israel and finally Jerusalem. The Roman army killed many thousands of the Jewish people. Many more were taken captive by the Romans and were forced into slavery in the Roman Empire. The rest ran for their lives. They scattered into every country on the Earth in perfect fulfillment of Moses’ prophecy.

Jeremiah 16:15 But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers. (KJV)
Jeremiah 23:8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land. (KJV)
The prophet Jeremiah, also spoke on this subject. He said that the Jewish people would be banished to all countries. Also associated with this prophecy, the Jewish people have been persecuted everywhere they have lived. The most drastic persecution the Jews have ever faced was the Holocaust at the hands of the Nazis during World War II during which almost 6 million were killed.
But, in spite of the persecutions, the Jewish people have survived and still are scattered among the nations. Today, Jewish communities can be found in almost every country of the world.

Kept in the Scattering

Jeremiah 31:35-37 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: 36  If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. 37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD. (KJV)
I think this is an amazing prophecy! Read it again!
https://www.godcannotlie.org/Jeremiah_ch.31.htm
The LORD not only promised that Israel would be scattered and persecuted, but that they would be preserved (kept) as a nation. Considering the severity the persecutions that the Jewish people have endured, it does not seem possible that they would have survived as a people. But, in Jeremiah 31:35-37, God says the Jewish nation would exist as long as there were the sun, moon, and stars. Then we read: If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD. . . . Can anyone measure Heaven? Can anyone measure the base of the Earth? NO! So Almighty God clearly states Israel is here to stay, no matter how wicked mankind tries to eliminate them!
What about the lost tribes of Israel? This term is very misleading because there has NEVER been a lost tribe of Israel. God knows exactly where they have been all along and He has promised to preserve them just as the sun, moon, and stars are preserved.

For nearly 2,000 years the Jewish people have been scattered from their homeland to all points of the Earth but have managed to maintain their Jewish identity. No other people has accomplished this in history. In view of the odds they have faced, their preservation as a people has only one answer, Divine intervention.

Israel Regathered

Isaiah 11:11-12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. (KJV)
According to the Bible, after a time of being preserved in all the countries of the world, the Jewish people would begin to return to their own land in the last days.

Other Passages that confirm this return include:
Isaiah 43:4-7 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5  Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; 6  I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; 7  Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him
. (KJV)
Jeremiah 16:14-16 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 15  But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers. 16  Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks. (KJV)
Jeremiah 23:7-8 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8  But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land. (KJV)
Jeremiah 29:14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. (KJV)
Jeremiah 30:3 For, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. (KJV)
Ezekiel 39:25-29 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; 26  After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid. 27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
28  Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. 29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
(KJV)
Amos 9:14-15 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. 15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God. (KJV)

There is also some interesting history concerning the fulfillment of these prophecies.
There were only about 40,000 Jewish people in what was known as Palestine at the turn of the twentieth century. By 1948, when Israel declared their independence and statehood, there were about 500,000. Today there are about 7 million and the number is still growing. WHY? Because it seems the Jewish people from all over the world want to go back to Israel! They want to go home, and in doing so, they are fulfilling this prophecy. Some teach today that the regathering of the Jewish people from Babylon was the fulfillment of this Isaiah 11 prophecy . . . but, Isaiah 11:11 says: And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people. They will be gathered the second time. The regathering from Babylon was just the first time they were gathered back to the Land.
Also, Isaiah 11:12 says that the LORD would gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. The gathering from Babylon was from ONE country, Babylon. There is only one time in history that the Jewish people have been gathered the second time from the four corners of the earth, and that time is happening NOW!

Regathered in Unbelief

Many prophecies that call for the Jewish people to be regathered to the land of Israel also call for them to be gathered there WITHOUT faith in God. How unfortunate, how sad! In today’s world in Israel there are so many who do not have a practicing faith in Almighty God. Sad to say, many in Israel today are either atheist or have doubt. This is the scene in Ezekiel 37:1-28 known as the valley of dry bones.

Ezekiel 37:11-14 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12  Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13  And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14  And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD. (KJV)
This leaves no question that Jewish people will be gathered from all over the world to the land of Israel before the Spirit is placed within them. Therefore, lack of faith in God in Israel today is in perfect harmony with the condition called for in Ezekiel 37.

Ezekiel 11:17-21 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. 18  And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence. 19  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 20  That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. 21  But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD. (KJV)
Ezekiel 36:24-28 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25  Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28  And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. (KJV)
But, Ezekiel goes on to declare that a bright day is coming for the people of Israel, spiritually and physically, a day when she will be redeemed from all of her wanderings and floundering.

Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (KJV)
Israel’s focus on the LORD will return, and the purpose for which she was originally set apart as a nation, to lead the nations in the knowledge of the LORD, will take center stage. Those days lie ahead of us. Israel shall finally see the great mistake they have made. (KJV)
