No Mores in New Jerusalem
Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. [KJV]
John sees an amazing scene, a new Heaven and a new Earth, for the old Heaven and the old Earth were gone. And he saw no more sea.
Jesus said the present Heaven and Earth would pass away (Mat. 24:35); also Isaiah (Isa.65:17; 66:22), and Daniel (Dan.2:44), and Peter (2 Pet.3:7, 10-13), and the writer of Hebrews (Heb.11:13-16). The main difference of the new Earth will be “no more sea.” Why no sea? This could represent freedom from temptations, troubles, changes or whatever can divide or interrupt the fellowship of saints. The sea has also been a barrier and/or border in the past. It also was used in judgment (Flood). I know it’s a wise decision, because it comes from an all-wise God!
Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (KJV)
No more living without God’s Presence.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. [KJV]
Since God would now be among His people! He will live with them in New Jerusalem, and they will be His people. There will be no more death or no more sorrow or no more crying or no more pain. For the old world and all its evils are gone forever.
Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. (KJV)
There shall be no more Temple in the Holy City, for the LORD God Almighty and the Lamb are its Temple.
Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. (KJV)
New Jerusalem will have no more sun and no more moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.
In the Old Testament, the Temple was the center of God’s Presence among His people, and it was the primary place of worship. No Temple is needed in this Holy City because God’s Presence will be everywhere, because HE is there! He will be worshiped all through the city; nothing will interfere with us from being without our awesome heavenly Father. There will be no sun, no moon in this City; for the glory of God and the Lamb’s Light is all that will be needed. Their glory will by far outshine the sun and moon. This was prophesied by Isaiah! Isaiah 60:19-20 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. (KJV)
Revelation 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. (KJV)
Its gates never close, there is no night. The gates of the cities of old were always shut at night, for protection; but here in this wondrous City, there is no night, so the gates will never be shut!
Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. (KJV)
No evil of any kind will be allowed to enter, no defilement, no idolatry, no dishonesty, no more lies, for only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life (Rev. 20:15). Trust what the Word of God tells you.
