What is Heaven Like?

Where is Heaven? . . . We do not know where Heaven is. One thing we do know is that Heaven is up, not down. For us here on Earth, down is the place of death, our grave, Sheol and Hades, the place of the dead.
Genesis 37:35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him. (KJV)
Ephesians 4:9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? (KJV)
Consider the following to show that Heaven is up.
Psalm 68:18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them. (KJV)
Luke 24:50-51 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. (KJV) . . . When Jesus returned to Heaven to be with His Father, He went UP. He ascended. He was carried up into heaven.
Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. (KJV)  . . . Jesus was lifted up while they were looking, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (KJV) . . . Two angels said that Jesus has been taken up from you into Heaven.
Ephesians 4:8-10 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) (KJV) . . . Quoting Psalm 68:18, the Apostle Paul said of Jesus: He ascended on high. In verse 9, Paul repeats that Jesus ascended, and added that Jesus ascended far above all the heavens.

WHAT is Heaven? Heaven is the present Home of God. It is the place where God presently lives.
Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. (KJV)
Revelation 4:1-5 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2  And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3  And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. 4  And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. 5  And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. (KJV)
Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (KJV)
Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, (KJV)

When John the Baptist and Jesus announced that the kingdom of the heavens had drawn near, they meant, (1). That Jesus’ Kingdom was created by God. (2). They also meant that it had drawn near both in the temporal and eternal sense. It was near in time, and it was near in the Person of the Almighty King.
Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. (KJV)
Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. (KJV)
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. (KJV)
Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. (KJV)
New Jerusalem, shall be the capital of the New Earth, the Holy City. It shall be the elevated headquarters of the eternal government of New Earth, whose co-regents are God the Father and God the Lamb. It will indeed be a Kingdom of the heavens, the Home of our Almighty Triune God, having come down out of Heaven, and existing in the atmosphere surrounding New Earth.
