Does God Approve of ANY Alternative Lifestyles???

The Bible Has the Answer, and it is "NO"

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, [10] Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. [KJV]

1 Corinthians 6:15-20 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. [16] What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. [17] But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. [18] Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. [19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. [KJV] . . . So much is said today about ‘alternative lifestyles.’ BUT, what does God have to say about homosexuality, living together as an unmarried couple, or being immoral? Some people say that God now accepts any relationship; BUT, the Bible has a very different report. Just because these relationships exist and abound in today’s evil world, does NOT make them right. God clearly states they are sin.

Saying "homosexuality is wrong" is not a popular thing to do today. Yet God is NOT concerned with what is popular. He is concerned with people’s salvation and their obedience to His Word. Just because homosexuality is viewed as an acceptable lifestyle in our society does not mean it is not a sin. God declared it to be just that when He gave His laws to the Israelites.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. [KJV] . . . Paul repeated God’s command on abstaining from homosexual sex in his letter to the Romans.

Romans 1:26-27 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: [27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. [KJV]

What about living together before marriage? and premarital sex? Have you ever thought it was all right to do something just because ‘everybody is doing it’? Today, more and more couples live together outside of marriage, so much that it has become acceptable. And it seems premarital sex is the standard, rather than the exception, even down to 10 and 11 year old children. But, has God given His approval of these relationships??? NO!

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. [KJV] . . . Even though God did create sex, He did not intend for it to be before marriage, or without the benefit of marriage. He created sex to be a way and means by which a husband and wife would grow closer in their marriage relationship. He did NOT create sex to be something cheaply enjoyed outside the bonds of the marriage bed, which is what living together and premarital sex are.

Promiscuity is a word we do not hear very often today. Promiscuity involves having many sexual partners. We know from God’s Word that He intended us to have ONE sexual partner --- our spouse. When a person has more than one partner (with the exception of remarriage after a spouse’s death or a divorce on solid biblical grounds), he or she is involved in sexual immorality, if not married, or adultery, if married.

Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; [KJV]

Matthew 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: [28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. [KJV] . . . Jesus’ Words.

Many people question whether God’s Word on these subjects still applies to us today, or if it was simply meant strictly for the people of that particular time and culture. God has instructed us all to obey all of His commands; not to add or subtract from any of them. Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. [KJV] . . . We are also told that the Word of the Lord stands forever.

1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. [KJV] . . . Therefore, these instructions apply just as much to us today as they did centuries ago. WHY??

God does NOT change, ever!

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. [KJV]

God gave us our sexual desires to enjoy ONLY within the bounds of marriage.

1 Corinthians 7:1-5 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. [2] Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. [3] Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. [4] The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. [5] Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. [KJV]

If you go against God’s divinely instituted plan and do not repent, you will reap the consequences --- not only in this life, but in eternity. For you can NEVER be close to God if you are engaged in ANY immoral behavior. BUT, you won’t be occupied in any immoral type of behavior IF you are truly close to God.

Are There Carnal Christians?

CARNAL means unconverted, worldly; it means to be controlled and motivated by one’s sinful, human nature rather than the Holy Spirit; it means failing to live the Christian life Jesus wants us to live.

1 Corinthians 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? [KJV] . . . Many people are infants in the Christian life, proven by the way they quarrel like children and allow divisions to bewilder them. They are "worldly," controlled by their own desires; whereas mature believers are in tune with God’s will and desires. Do your selfish desires control your life? Your goal should be to let God’s desires be yours. Allowing your desires to control you will stunt your spiritual growth. A person CANNOT be godly AND carnal. You are one or the other, NOT both.

Romans 8:6-7 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. [7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. [KJV] . . . People can be divided into two categories: #1. those who let themselves be controlled by their sinful natures, #2. those who allow the Holy Spirit to control them. All of us would be in the first group if Jesus hadn’t offered us a way out. Once we say yes to Jesus, we must continue to follow Him, because only His way can bring life and peace. Each single day we must deliberately choose to center our lives on God. We must study the Bible to discover God’s will in our lives, for He gives clear guidelines for us to follow. In every puzzling situation ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?" If Jesus wouldn’t think it, say it or do it, don’t do it! A "carnal mind" is enmity (ill-will, malice, hatred, hostility) against God. The weapons of Christian warfare are not carnal for they are not operated by human power.

2 Corinthians 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) [KJV]

Ephesians 4:22-24 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; [23] And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; [24] And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. [KJV] . . . People should be able to see a difference between TRUE Christians and false ones (hypocrites). Our lives should be as windows. People should be able to 'look in' and see Jesus!

Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: [KJV] . . . As children of light, our speech and actions should reflect our faith. We should live above blame morally so that we reflect God’s goodness to others. Although we are given a new nature, we don’t always think all good thoughts and exhibit all right attitudes when we become God’s children (John 1:12-13 born again). But as long as we keep listening to God, we change all the time, for the good. As you look back over last year, do you see a change for the better in your thoughts, attitudes, speech and actions? Change may be slow, but it will come! Accepting Christ’s Gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-10) and committing your life to Him is a once-for-all decision, but it is also a daily conscious commitment. Unless we commit our lives to Jesus --- turn our ALL over to Him, we are not living a life that is pleasing to God; we are carnal.

Colossians 3:3-8 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. [5] Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: [6] For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: [7] In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. [8] But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. [KJV] . . . We are inclined to sin. We should mortify, kill, suppress all sins. We must constantly oppose all corrupt things; not allowing any provision for carnal indulgences. All sin must be avoided: the lusts of the flesh, and the love of the world; and covetousness, which is idolatry. We must mortify sins, for if we do not kill them, they will kill us. It is the duty of every child of God to be holy, because Christ is our absolute All; our only Saviour and Lord, and our only hope, comfort, joy and peace. He is our Life!

Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. [KJV] . . . It would certainly be a surprise if you planted corn and beans came up. It’s a natural law that we will reap what we sow. Life on Earth is seed time, for in the world to come, we shall reap what we now sow. There are two kinds of sowing, one to the flesh, and one to the Spirit. Those who live a carnal, immoral life will reap misery and ruin. But those who live a life of faith and obedience in Christ, shall reap eternal life. If you plant to please God, you’ll reap joy and peace and everlasting life. What kind of seeds are you sowing?

There are millions who profess to be Christians, but they do NOT possess Christ in their heart and lives. "By their fruits ye shall know them" (Matthew 7:13-23). They may attend church regularly, they have heard the Gospel but either the "seed" is plucked up by the devil, or the "seed" fell on rocky soil where the roots won’t take hold. As soon as they have problems or are persecuted because of Jesus, they fall away. Many hear the Gospel but the Truth is drowned out by the cares of this life and the lure of wealth. Only a "few" go on to be TRUE Christians (God’s children).

A TRUE Christian is a disciple of Christ. They love Jesus and they willingly serve Him! They walk as He walked, talk as He talked and they try to win lost souls to Him. ALL disciples are believers, but NOT all believers are disciples. Remember, God’s children can and do backslide, but we must not stay there.
