End Time Sign . . . Mass Animal Deaths

Hosea 4:3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. (KJV)
Therefore shall the land mourn . . . "therefore" connects to the former verse . . . since their sins are so many and so great, the ten tribes that inhabit the land shall mourn. Men and women mourn because of the loss of their comforts and joys, and they neglect their godly habits. The sins of the people shall bring an enemy upon the land. War shall first spoil their cities, towns, vineyards, and olive yards, and finally shall carry the people captive. All shall be in a horrible and sad state (Isa.24:4; Amos 1:2). "Therefore shall the land mourn" . . . consider the situation of this country. We are polluting everything, everywhere around us. We have polluted the land, and the land is mourning today. When God judges a nation, the land itself is involved and even the beasts, fowls and fishes suffer because of the sin of man.

Hosea reproves the people for immorality, as well as idolatry. There was no truth, mercy, or knowledge of God in the land: and it would literally destroy the country. Our sins, as separate persons, as a family, as a neighborhood and as a nation, cause the Lord to have opposition with us. We submit and humble ourselves before Him, that He may not destroy us.
And everyone that dwelleth therein shall languish . . . every one that dwells there, because they ALL had provoked God and sinned. "Shall languish" . . . with grief and vexation, they shall pine away. What they see with their eye shall make their heart ache, they shall faint with great despair and gloom (Isa.16:8; Joel 1:12). Languishing: (Isa.24:4-12; 33:9; Jer.4:27; Joel 1:10-13; Amos 1:2; 5:16; 8:8; Nah.1:4)
With the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven . . . these are elsewhere mentioned (Zep.1:2-3). God shall punish man in cutting off what was made for his benefit and comfort. It could be that the domestic cattle were starving for want of grass or fodder, all being eaten up and consumed by the wasting armies. "With the fowls of heaven" . . . the domestic fowls killed by enemies, or possibly all the dead bodies are devoured by buzzards, eagles and birds of prey, which in those countries wait on armies (Rev.19:21). With the beasts: (Jer.4:25; 12:4l Eze.38:20; Zep.1:3)

Yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away . . . taken away, possibly by drying up the waters of rivers, lakes and ponds, or by some disease . . . "the fishes of the sea" shall be fewer because of their sins.
Zephaniah 1:2 I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD. (KJV)
These prophets certainly were bold! And the used very strong language. God says, "I am going to judge, and when I do, I will scrape the land clean, just the way you would clean a dish." God's wrath had come to the boiling point!
But . . . what about this country in which we live? Are we not piling up our sins in the eyes of Almighty God? Romans 2:5-11 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God. (KJV) . . . It amazes me that people just seem to think that they can get by with their sins! And our government just keeps passing more laws condemning those who try to live by God's Book! We are not allowed to mention the Name of Jesus . . . EXCEPT in blasphemy! THAT is permitted! Abortion and homosexuality are rampant, but when we speak out against it, we are the BAD guys! It makes me sick!
As we move deeper into Zephaniah's prophecy, we will see that this judgment covers MORE than just the land of Israel. Zephaniah predicts a worldwide devastation! The Book of Revelation confirms this and places the time of this judgment as the Great Tribulation period (Rev.6-18). During that horrific time, this Earth will absolutely be made bare by the judgments that will come upon it.
Zephaniah 1:3 I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD. (KJV)
I will consume man and beast . . . all living creatures are included in this judgment . . . either by war or pestilence. Even the waters shall be infected, and the fish destroyed. The air will become contaminated, and all the birds will die. All species will become extinct at that time. This shall be a very severe judgment.
The "all things" (Zep. 1:2; Jer. 9:10; Hos. 4:3).
The "stumbling-blocks" . . . idols which cause Judah to offend God or stumble (Eze.14:3-4, 7-8).
With the wicked . . . the idols and their worshippers shall be involved in a common destruction.
This end time sign has become a fairly recent occurrence. During the last few years we have seen fish, birds and other animals die in huge numbers. Since 2010, millions of fish have been turning up dead in lakes, rivers and the sea. Also, Birds have been dropping out of the sky in huge numbers. And we are seeing other unusual animal deaths all around the world. Including bees and bats dying in millions.

The honey bee calamity deepens as evidence shows there has been a dramatic increase in them dying die off . . . up to 50 percent of honey bees are dying now, creating much worry over food supply.

The rise of jellyfish over the past few decades is a forerunner of the health of the world's oceans! The Oceans are on the Brink of a Catastrophe!

The book of Hosea not only applied to the nation of Israel. It also applies to our day and contains prophecies concerning the state of the world we live in today. So is this text from Hosea fulfilled in our day? Is it a sign of the end times? Yes!
