Prophecy, the Reasons to Study
Are Endless

Prophecy, and the reasons for us to study it, are endless. Prophecy is such a huge topic . . . WHERE does a person begin?

It is SO sad that there are so few pastors and Bible teachers who do NOT teach the subject of PROPHECY . . . because it makes up about one-third of the Holy Scriptures. The Holy Bible is God's Holy Word to us, so since prophecy makes up such a large space in His Book, HE (Almighty God) must think it is important! SO . . . WHY do SO many pastors and teachers shy away from this fabulous area in God's Book???

#1. Is it because they are stunned by the subject?
#2. Is it because they are fed-up with those who set dates and times when Scripture clearly tells us that NO man knows God's calendar.
#3. Could it be possible that that some simply fear prophecy?
Whatever the reasons, one thing is certain, we are called to preach the “full counsel of God,” and that clearly includes teaching the prophetic Scriptures. Here are just a few of the many reasons I preach Bible prophecy.

We must Have our Eye on God and His Word, NOT in an Image; We Must Depend On God's Promises and God's Power to Accomplish Them All (46:9-10)

Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, (KJV)

Remember the former things of old . . . remember what I have done for you, remember My predictions of future things, justified by the event, the things that were from the beginning, and the ancient things done by the LORD, which are the effects of power, wisdom and goodness, or in wrath, or in mercy; such as the Creation of the heavens, and the Earth, and all things in them; the destruction of the old world (Gen.7:20-23), and of Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen.19:27-29); the bringing of Israel out of Egypt through the Red sea and wilderness (Ex.13:18), to Canaan's land, and all the wondrous things then done for them; which are so many proofs of the true deity of the God of Israel, in total opposition to the idols of the Gentiles.
For I am God, and there is none else . . . as He had to be to do all the above things.
I am God, and there is none like me . . . for greatness or goodness, or that has done the like things; not one of the gods of the Gentiles. There is NO God, except the LORD, the eternal JEHOVAH (Ex.6:3; Ps.83:18; Isa.12:2; 26:4). There is none else: (Deut.4:35, 39; 1 Sam. 2:2; 1 Ki.8:60; Isa.44:6, 8; 45:5-6, 14, 18, 21-22; 46:9).

*****There is so much modern idolatry around us in today’s evil world: money, fortune, fame, power, pleasure, sports, movie stars, etc. All these are like a useless idol, a god they have to carry around and whom they worship. Dear one, the LORD wants you to understand that He has something that He wants you to know . . . He does not want you to carry a useless god on your shoulder . . . He wants to carry you on HIS Shoulder!

There is a big and vital difference between TRUE religion and false religion! False religion is a dead weight (a devastating burden), for the soul to carry . . . whereas TRUE religion is a Living Power (Jesus) to carry the soul!

Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: (KJV)

Declaring the end from the beginning . . . the end of the Jewish state, both as a church, and a nation, from the first settlement of it in the times of Moses, to the end of the world, and all things in it, as early as the times of Enoch, the seventh from Adam (Jude 1:14). The LORD declared the end and issue of every event BEFORE they came to pass; and especially things relating to Christ. The end was declared very early, and spoken of by all the prophets, and which is full proof of the omniscience of God, and of His true deity (Lk.1:70).
http://hisservants.org/is_jesus_god_h_s.htm
And from the ancient times the things that are not yet done . . . that were not yet at this time done, although they have been since: such as the captivity of the Jews, and their return from it; also the incarnation of Christ, His obedience and sufferings, and the glory that would follow; His resurrection, His ascension, and His sitting at the right hand of GodRight Hand of God: (Mk.16:19; Lk.22:69; Acts 2:33; 7:55-56; Rom.8:34; Col.3:1; Heb.10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet.3:22). The work of redemption by Him; the effusion of the Spirit; the spread of the Gospel among the Gentiles, and their conversion.
Saying, my counsel shall stand . . . no other power can disappoint, nor hinder, nor stop, my purposes and predictions. All shall stand firm and sure, and shall have be fully accomplished.
Psalm 33:10-11 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. 11  The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. (KJV)
And I will do all my pleasure . . . just as He has done in Creation, and does in providence, so He has done, can do, and does do in grace, in predestination and redemption, and in the effective calling of His people. This may especially refer to the deliverance of the Jews by Cyrus, a type of Christ, and deliverance by him, as follows.

Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. (KJV)

Whatever reasons pastors and Bible teachers have, one thing THEY and we ALL must remember . . . we are called to preach the “full counsel of God,” and that clearly includes teaching the PROPHETIC Scriptures.

WHY do I teach prophecy?

Below are some reasons:

<><><>#1. Prophecy is a Witness to Christ Jesus. Clearly, the plan of prophecy is to bear witness to Christ Jesus . The fulfillment of prophecy is proof that the Word of God is sure and true, and that the Holy Bible IS indeed God's Word to us! No other book can make this claim. When we understand that the Bible is not a history book, but is instead His-Story, which is the story of our Living God, His Christ and the Holy Spirit, then we can fully understand how important prophecy is.

<><><>#2. Prophecy Brings Us Spiritual Understanding.
Another reason for teaching Bible prophecy is . . . it brings spiritual understanding to people in tumultuous times in which we live. People search for answers to the trials of the day, trying to understand with reason and common sense. The problem is, so much of what we see in life has NO clear reason and little sense most of the time.

Consider this view on gender. 2 Thes. 2:11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (KJV)

Today we have scientists telling us that there are multiple genders. So, now have people who are supposedly intelligent, affirming this lie. HOW are we to understand this? There is only one thing that can possibly explain this . . . and the snswer is in the above Verse. The PROPHECY of the coming spirit of strong delusion.

Bible prophecy does give us a spiritual insight into our times, be it politically, economically, culturally, and most of all, spiritually. Bible prophecy shines God’s LIGHT into the world’s spiritual darkness.

<><><>#3. Prophecy Motivates People to Evangelize
Bible prophecy spurs the Church to be urgent to fulfill its mission to reach as many people as we can with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible prophesies that as end-time events unfold, and as we discern those events coming to pass, we should be motivated to redeem the time.

To "Redeem the time" means to make the most of every opportunity (Col.4:5). To "redeem the time" simply means stewarding our time in a way that glorifies God. Each of us has a limited amount of time on this Earth (Jam.4:14), and we are to use it in ways that honor God (Col.3:17).

Some people say “if the Lord tarries,” as though we may have all the time in the world. The Biblical Truth is: Heb 10:37  For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. (KJV) . . . For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry . . . there are many people who think they will have a second chance to believe God and accept Jesus’ Sacrifice.
Some act as though He keeps putting off His Coming that He is tarrying. Dear one, He is NOT going to tarry. There is a specific day on His calendar, when He has set to come. When is He coming? No one knows (Mk.13:32). God does not let anyone see His calendar. But consider this. One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (2 Pet.3:8). Think about that! If Jesus has been gone for 2000 years . . . on God’s clock, His time-table, Jesus has only been gone 2 DAYS! Please do not listen to those fools who say Jesus is not coming back. They are WRONG. And IF you are waiting for His return to get your life in order, then you are a fool. Almighty God has given each person a specific time period to live this life on Earth. And I really do think that it is in this time span, that we MUST decide WHERE we will spend eternity. There very likely is a Bible in your home. What do you do with it? The answer to WHERE you shall spend eternity is in there! The Holy Word of God clearly tells us how to get to Heaven. When you die and leave this Earth, there is NO second chance for you. IF you have not believed God and accepted Jesus’ once for all Perfect Sacrifice on your behalf, HELL is your destination! It is just that simple!
I think that Jesus spoke more on Hell, than He did any other subject. WHY??? Because He does not want you to go there! WHY do I speak so much on Hell? For the same reason! I want to try to keep you from going there.
There is not much said about Heaven, except in Revelation 21 & 22. But Hell is described in full in many places! See our MANY articles:
http://www.hisservants.org/hell_h_s.htm
http://www.hisservantsministry.org/p_hell.html
http://www.judgmentcoming.org/j_c_hell_is_it_there.htm
http://www.lastdaysprophecy.org/L_D_is_there_really_a_hell.htm
http://www.worldlychaos.org/w_c_hell.1.htm

If you do not know for sure that you are going to Heaven, the Bible says that we CAN know: (Jn.20:31; 1 Jn.5:10-13). For other verses of comfort: (Mat.16:16; Jn.1:12-13; 6:69; Acts 8:37; Rom.10:9-10; 1 Jn.4:2; 4:14-15; 1 Jn.2:29; 3:9. 4:7; 5:4,15; 5:1,10,20; 2 Jn.1:9).

The Bible gives us a VERY CLEAR CHOICE between two life directions: the broad road that leads where you do not want to go (Mat.7:13), and the narrow one with Jesus (Mat.7:14; Rom.8:1; Gal.5:16; Col.2:5; 1 Jn.1:7). Roads of life often fork, giving us two choices. We must be careful NOT to choose the wrong way. The broad way often seems the easier way to go, but Satan is deceiving you dear one! BEWARE!!! His road leads to HELL! Only if you stay on that narrow path with Jesus, can you arrive in Heaven.

<><><>#4. Prophecy Brings a Sense of Peace
Last but not least, I teach Bible prophecy because it brings a peace that exceeds the trials and tribulations of this Earth. It also removes the fear of the unknown. At least 27 times in the New Testament, we are instructed to “fear not.” God desires that we know in general terms what lies ahead. As Amos 3:7-8 says: “Certainly the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret plan to His servants the prophets. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken! Who can do anything but prophesy?”

<><><>#5. Bible prophecy and its frequent fulfillment teaches that the world is not spinning wildly out of control. Rather, the Living God’s plan is unfolding precisely as He ordained it to do. Isaiah declares: Besides Me There Is No God.

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. (KJV)

Thus saith the Lord . . . this begins the argument to prove that the LORD is the only TRUE God, and that all the idols were/are vanity. The purpose is, to show the Jews, that He who had made them such Promises of protection and deliverance was well able to perform what He had promised Himself to do.
The King of Israel  (Jacob) . . . (Isa.41:21).
And his Redeemer . . . (Isa.43:1)..
The Lord of hosts . . . (Isa.1:9).
I am the first . . . (Isa.41:4).
And I am the last . . . (Isa.41:4), this is expressed in: Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (KJV)  . . . The sense is, that God existed before all things, and will exist forever.
And besides me there is no God . . . this is repeatedly declared in the Word of God (Ex.8:10; 9:14; 15:11; Deut.4:35, 39; 33:26; 1 Sam.2:2; 2 Sam.7:22; 1 Ki,.8:23; Ps.86:8; 89:6-8; Isa.40:18, 25; 43:10-12; 45:5, 18, 21-22; 46:5, 9; Jer.10:6-7). This great Truth the LORD kept steadily before the minds of the Jews; and in the last days will be dispersed abroad among all the nations. He IS the Almighty LORD and He shall be Judge in the last days on Judgment Day (1 Thes.4:13-18; Mat.25:31-46; Rev.20:11-20), just as He judged in the past, and was right and just in doing so (Gen.6:5, 12, 17; 7:21-23; 18:20-33; 19:16). Isaiah 44:7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. (KJV)

And who, as I . . . this verse contains an argument to prove that the LORD is God. In proof of this, He states the fact that He alone can predict future events, and with precision, declare the order and the time in which they will come to pass (Isa.41:21-23; 44:9-10).
Who shall call . . . meaning to call forth the event, or command it to happen when He wills, which is one of the highest possible exhibitions of power (Isa.13:4-5, 17-18; 44:28; 46:11; 48:14-15; Jer.50:21-29; 51:20-24) . . . of which NONE of the Heathen gods can do!
And shall declare it . . . declare or announce with certainty the future event, or shall publish and declare; which express the same thing.
And set it in order for me . . . arrange it; and means to place in a row; set in order. It is in reference to placing the wood on the altar in a proper manner (Gen.22:9), or to placing the showbread in proper order on the table (Lev.24:8), and also setting an army in order, or putting it in battle array (Gen.14:8; Judg.20:20, 22; 1 Sam.17:2). I think that here it means that God would arrange the events in a proper order, as an army is arrayed for battle. There would be absolutely no improper sequences of events; no chance of hap-hazard nor confusion. The events which take place under the LORD’S government, occur in proper order and exact time, so as best to serve His plans. For me in order to promote His glory. What happens on Earth, happen at the LORD’S command and for His honor and glory.
Since I appointed the ancient people . . . since the time that I appointed or called the Israelites to be My people, whom He calls the ancient people, because they were His people long before this time; and were the everlasting people, because He determined that He would never totally and finally cast them off and destroy them (Jer.31:35-37), as He would do other nations. The Israelites were therefore qualified to be His witnesses. Let them (their idols, their gods) give Me an account of any of their predictions of future events from the beginning of the world to this day. They could NOT do it!
And the things that are coming, and shall come . . . (Isa.41:22-23),such things as are near at hand, and such as those that are to come in the last days. They could NOT do that either!

*****None except the LORD could foretell any things to come, then or now, which God now by His prophet gave notice of to the world, about 200 years before they came to pass . . . who shall declare it, how it shall be, and has perfect foreknowledge of it, but sets it in order, as being the sole Manager and Director of it. Can any other pretend to know and do this? The LORD has always set things in order according to the counsel of His own will (Eph.1:11), ever since He appointed the ancient people, the people of Israel, who alone could give a truer and fuller account of the antiquities of their own nation than any other kingdom in the world could give of theirs. Ever since the LORD appointed Israel to be His peculiar people (Deut.14:2; 26:18; Tit.2:14; 1 Pet.2:9), His providence was especially aware about them, and He told them BEFORE the events that would happen regarding them, their bondage in Egypt, their deliverance from it , and their settlement in Canaan . All was set in order in the LORD’S divine predictions as well as in the His divine reasons. NO other could have done so! NO other would have been so concerned about them! He challenges the idols and their worshippers to show the things that would come . . . Let them, if they can, tell us the name of the man that shall destroy Babylon and deliver Israel.

No, they could not tell the things that would come in the last days, let alone the things that were soon to come, that were close at hand and at the door. If they cannot tell what would come to pass tomorrow, and they could NOT . . . there was no reason to fear them. They could do them no harm. Those who have God's Promise to depend on need not be afraid of any supposed opposing powers or policies of idols.

Isaiah 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. (KJV)

Fear ye not, neither be afraid . . . (Isa.41:10). There can be no doubt to the meaning. Neither be deceived.
Have not I told thee  . . .  O Israel, whom He bids not to fear. The sense is, He calls Israel to be His witness, that there is no other God (Isa.43:13).
From that time . . . from the time when I appointed the ancient people (vs.7). These were instances of God's prediction of things to come, not only from the beginning of the Jewish state.
And have declared it . . . have published it to the world in my sacred records.
Ye are even my witnesses . . . (Isa.43:12), witnesses both of the LORD’S predictions, and of the exact harmony and fulfillment of the events.
Is there a God besides me? . . . judge whether I be the only true God.
Yea, there is no God; I know not any . . . if any be wiser than I am, I am willing to be informed. It is a mocking speech.

The Word of God is so wide-ranging that speaking of its depth and breadth would be like trying to put the Pacific Ocean into a quart jar. As pastors or teachers OR simply believers in Christ Jesus, we ALL are called to bring the full counsel of God . . . and that includes PROPHECY! Anything less would be disobedience to the Lord we serve. Dear one . . . NOT teaching PROPHECY is to disobey God!
